Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist

Leah Buhajiar is a qualified Chinese Medicine Practitioner trained in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the University of Western Sydney. She integrates both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine to combine the best care for her patients and has a particular interest in men's and women's health and fertility.

She feels that becoming a parent can sometimes be a long and emotional process. Little attention is paid to how the couple's day-to-day life is impacted during this time and feels that by using the holistic model of Chinese medicine, she is able to treat the emotional and physical well-being of her patients.

During an initial consultation Leah discusses your presenting complaints/symptoms and then looks at your general health and history. No matter is overlooked as everything helps to form a picture of your individual constitution. Leah has an open and friendly approach so that you can feel comfortable discussing all aspects of your health.

After going through this health history, Leah will diagnose your constitution using traditional Chinese medicine techniques, tongue and pulse diagnosis. Leah then combines this information with your health history to establish the best treatment plan for you.

Treatment with Leah consists of acupuncture, lifestyle and diet modification and sometimes traditional Chinese herbs. She aims to teach her patients to see health and fertility as a dynamic experience, interdependent with their environment and lifestyle. Throughout this process she hopes to help her patients reach a place of better balance.

Leah uses a light acupuncture technique without seep skin penetration. This is similar to a more Japanese style of acupuncture. By using this technique, Leah ensures that you receive the maximum benefit and relaxation without any pain or discomfort.

When assessing diet and lifestyle factors, Leah tries to take a realistic approach that suits modern hectic lifestyles. Leah firmly believes the 'middle road' is the best approach. Leah is also an avid collector of recipes so she is always keen to share some of her healthy gems with you.

Finally, a formula of granulated Chinese herbs may be prescribed for you. As the herbs are granulated, there is no need to boil them for a long period of time. Also the amount of liquid needed to consume with them is small so there is less unpleasantness to swallow down!
